Show FORT DOUGLAS II T0IM1IFT In accordance with the nation-wide thrift campaign inaugurated yesterday in $00 cities and towns of the country by the Young Men's Christian association, the necessity of subscribing for soldiers' Insurance, In-surance, and preparing to meet changed industrial conditions after the war will be impressed upon the men at Fort Douglas Doug-las by t he association workers there, headed by K. G. Caster. The activities of the Salt Lake branch of the association associa-tion were practically transferred to Fort Douglas some time ago, and the campaign will be directed as part of the work at the post. Among other Immediate objects of the campaign is impressing upon the soldiers the necessity of securing government life insurance. The final date of application for insurance of men enlisting prior to October 15 will be February iS, and the drive is especially timely in this respect. Many of the men have given little thought to conditions after the war, and the campaign cam-paign also will haTe as an object making them understand -that it is necessary to save a portion of their pay as a capital they will need badly when discharged from the army and entering civil life. The campaign over the country also is interesting the millions of young men not in the army, in the virtues and rewards re-wards of thrift and having them prepare for the drastic economic changes that are expected to occur in every belligerent country with the coming of peace. The drive will last through the week. |
