Show Eureka Girl to Qualify to Drive War Ambulance Daughter of Mining Man Will Leave for New York to Take Required Tests. MIPS MAUD FITCH, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Fitch, Sr., of Eureka, expects to leave some time during the present month for New York, -where she will submit to an examination as to her ability abil-ity to drive an automobile and overcome the troubles which ordinarily fall to the lot of an ambulance driver in t he war zone. In the event tluit Miss Fitch is found to be qualified for such work, the will be immediately sent to Franco. Miss Fitch has a. splendid knowledge of automobiles, having driven her own car for a number of years, and over since making up her mind to render the greatest great-est possible service to her country in the present war, she has been receiving instructions which will undoubtedly result re-sult in her passing a rigid examination examina-tion and also make it possible for her to combat obstacles encountered in the performance of the duties of an ambulance ambu-lance driver. |
