Show CARSON'S PURPOSE. Sir Edward Carson, who resigned his seat in the British cabinet not long since, has returned to Ulster to stir up trouble in case the Irish convention reports re-ports an agreement favorable to home rule. As Carson is being' feted and acclaimed by the Ulsterites it is natural nat-ural to suppose that a rebellion in the north of Ireland is on the cards unless un-less tho home rule law continues to lie dormant. If the attitude of Londonderry, London-derry, Carson and the other Ulster leaders is any, criterion to go by we should say that there is trouble brewing brew-ing and that unless Lloyd George exhibits ex-hibits courage and firmness the Irish question will remain unsolved after' the present convention concludes its labors. ' I We would like to see a British government gov-ernment with grit enough to call the bluff of Carson and his co-eonspirators. Home rule has divided the empire for many years and after passing the law the government fears to put it into effect. It is a pitiable exhibition of cowardice upon the part of the Liberal Lib-eral statesmen of Great Britain and we are curious to know whether Lloyd George really has as much nertfi as he is credited with possessing. |
