Cook, respectively re-spectively president and business manager of the Salt Lake baseball club, will leave this afternoon for Los Angeles. They will represent the Saints at the annual meeting meet-ing of Coast league directors to be held Monday. Conk is armed with a prospective schedule sched-ule or two. In case Sacramento is Laken in the league and it seems to be a cinch for the California capital now Salt Lake wltl open and close abroad. The season will be two weeks' old before the Saints are seen in their home town, and after the world's series they will not be seen hero again. One of tlm schedules prepared by Cook, and one which would suit us all pretty well, brings the Saints to Salt Iake for four straight weeks In July, including in-cluding independence day and Pioneer day. Naturally, It is not likely that the directors di-rectors will adopt . a schedule until they have had a eha nee to "chew the fat," and consequently It is not probable that the playing card will be adopted at Monday's Mon-day's meeting, but at a schedule meeting to be held in January. Salt Lake's delegation does not believe there will be any reduction In the player limit or In the salary limit. It may reasonably rea-sonably b expected, therefore, that the standard of baseball next year will be as high as it was last year. The manner of collecting th war tax will also be decided at the Log Angeles meeting. Cook expects to make a visit to his old home in Oakland before returning to Salt Lake and will probably be away over tho holidays. Mrs. Cook and the family will join the head of the house at Oakland. Oak-land. Soon after the league meeting it is expected ex-pected that the local club will select a manager and that the 191S season plans will bo got under way shortly after the new year. A six teen-player limit will be. proposed, although there will be mu eli opposition to it. It will be decided de-cided how long t lie season will be nex t year. Present plans favor a regular thirty-week schedule. The question of dropping Portland and taking in Sacramento will be ta ken up. A not her quest ion lo come before the meeting will be the sale of the Pan Francisco club, Walter McCredie made .an offer for the club, but it is said he did not qo high enough for Berry, Other matters may come before the meeting, but these are the main questions. Several San Francisco writers are planning plan-ning to come here fnr the meeting. Bill Bcrnhard, who handled the Saints last season, was around the Rialto today. He is wintering in son t hern California and intends to come in for the meeting. Bernhard says he has made no plans for next season. He will have a talk with the Salt hake representatives when they arrive ar-rive Monday. Walter McCredie today placed his Port-la Port-la nd players on the market. Outfielder Lee is being sought by Tom Darmody. owner nf the Vernon club. He also is after Pitcher Penner, who goes to the St. Louis Drowns. "Three or four clubs are after Wllle," said McCredie. "Columbus wants Borton, and I am dickering with the Roston and Detroit Americans, both of whom want Fa rmcr. A number of clubs also want SlgHn.
