Show DECLARES TWO AIDED HIM IN P. O. ROBBERY Boy W. Wolcott Waives Examination Before "United States Commissioner; Held on $1500 Bail. Rov W. Wolcott, the 20-year-old young man 'arrested in this city a week ago, charged with robbing- the postoffice at Lund. Utah, was arraigned before United Unit-ed States Commissioner H. V. Van Pelt yesterday and, through his attorney, James F. Kellv, waived examination and was held in $1500 bail to await the action ac-tion of the federal grand jury. It was ascertained bv the federal authorities yesterday yes-terday that Wolcott comes from a highly connected family in California. Wolcott, in a statement to Detective C. A. Williams yesterday, admits that there were two men with him when the postoffice at Lund was entered and $1000 worth of stamps and $1S0 in cash taken. He stated that he met the men at Globe, Ariz., and thev invited him to take a ride to Salt Lake Citv in their automobile. automo-bile. Wolcott said his suspicions were aroused when they changed the license number of the machine on several occasions. occa-sions. After the robbery the trio came to Salt Lake in the machine and registered regis-tered at a local hotel. Wolcott's share of the proceeds of the crime was handed to him in postage stamps, and It was while he was endeavoring to dispose of j these that he was apprehended. Wolcott informed the detectives that he had never been in trouble before and that he was perfectly willing to accept his punishment, assuring the detectives that the lesson would prove to be a valuable valu-able one to him. He offers no excuse for his deed and states he will assist the authorities in every way in their efforts to apprehend his two accomplices. |
