Show PLEDGE FUNDS FOR Ml FOREST IDS State and Forestry Service to Co-operate in Construction Construc-tion of Highways. The state road commission pledged Itself It-self yesterday to supply funds for improvement im-provement of public roads connecting with forest roads, at the request of federal fed-eral forest and road officials who attended at-tended the commission meeting. The federal fed-eral officials present were T. "W. Nor-crosss. Nor-crosss. assistant chief engineer of the for-ost for-ost service, with headquarters at Washington Wash-ington ; J. P. Martin, district forest engineer, en-gineer, Ogden. and C. H. Kendall, highway high-way engineer of the bureau of public roads, of Ogden. The federal officials asked the road commission to commit Itself definitely to a road programme that will enable the federal government to make a large appropriation ap-propriation available for use in Utah. This the commission promised to do. The roads on which this money will be expended ex-pended are the Ephraim-Orangeville road, the 'Logan-Garden City road and the Cedar City -Long Valley road. The forest service will spend about 560,000 In carrying out this programme. The state road commission also took up a tentative programme of post road construction for the remainder of this year, and it was agreed that the work will be concentrated on the Snowvllle-Tremonton Snowvllle-Tremonton road, the Helper-Myton road by way of Duchesne, the Thompson -Bluff road and the Beaver-Newhouse post roads. |
