Show JAPANESE ARMY MAY AID. The report that Japanese troops will be sent to fight on the Russian front is not as absurd as it was a few months ago. At that time it was rightly argued ar-gued that it would be foolish to add to the number of men on the Russian front, inasmuch as those already there were inadequately supplied and inasmuch inas-much as the Japanese would be compelled com-pelled to use the alread- overcrowded Siberian railroad. The situation has changed because the Russian troops are not willing to use the supplies they have. They are dis-1 organized and dispirited. They have . millions of shells available for an of- j fensive, btit they fight only on the de- j fen si ve. Thousand of them have dc- i serted and returned to their homes. I The Japanese troops could make use of the Russian supplies because a great part of the guns and shells were manufactured manu-factured in Japan. The ammunition is probably interchangeable with Japanese ammunition, and if so, can be used in any guns the Nipponese take with them into Russia. How the people of Russia will view the friendly Japanese inva si on is another an-other question. They may not take kindly to the thought that, the little brown man is coming to fight the battles bat-tles they have lost the courage and the will to fight. But if the Jap is welcomed wel-comed he will be of great assistance, for there is no better soldier than he on any of the bat tie fronts. |
