Show SALT LAKE ONE OF HEALTHIEST CITIES Tuberculosis, Typhoid, Pneumonia Have Been Steadily Reduced in Past Five Years, Report Shows. Salt Lake has a death rate of a little more than 7 in 1000, and is considered one of the healthiest cities in the world, according to Dr. T. B. Beatty, secretary of the state board of health. Statistics prepared for a part of the year by the state board of health show that cases of tuberculosis have steadily reduced during the last five years. Pneumonia, which is generally regarded as serious in this climate, is not so serious as supposed, sup-posed, was the opinion expressed by Dr. Beatty. The death rate from typhoid, scarlet and other fevers has steadily reduced for the past several years. It is said that if quarantine regulations were properly enforced in many of the smaller small-er towns a considerable decrease in the number of diseases would thereby be effected. |
