The capture by th" Russians of the Persian town of Kermanshah is reported in an unofficial dispatch received here today. K or man shah is about eigrhty miles south w est of T lamadan, which the Russians Rus-sians captured soon after the opening of (heir new offensive, undertaken in connection con-nection with the British advance up the Tigris. Tt is about ninety miles from the Mesopotamia n border and is almost due east of Samara, to the soul h of which the Turks defeated on the Tigris are reported re-ported to have taken up a position. , In February of last year the Russians captured Kermanshah and pushed forward for-ward almost to the border. The defeat of the British at Kut-el-Amara, however, resulted In the withdrawal of the Russians Rus-sians in Persia and in July last the Turks regained Kermanshah. No official Russian reports have been received since Monday. London apparently appar-ently is without advices from Petrograd. where, at last accounts, food disturbances were in progress. |
