Show DMES Wi LACK AMBITION L. R. Wood, of O. S. L., Tells Why Women Fail in Commercial World. The lack of 'ambition and a penchant for marrying just as they have mastered the job was assigned last night by L. R. Wood, Oregon Short Line auditor, as the reason fur failure of many women wiio enter the husiness world. Mr. Wood was addressing the meeting of the Salt Lake Pusiness Women's club, which held its regular nice tins last nig lit following a dinner at the Newhouse hotel. A perfect storm of protest from the audience greeted Mr. Wood when he completed com-pleted his address, and, after fief ending bis position for a time, Mr. Wood announced an-nounced that the Short Line is intending to replace all men clerks who' join the army with women- This, to. a certain extent, appeased his listeners, they citing it as proof positive that the auditor's position was an appropriate example of the adage that "an exception proves the rule.'' Mr. Wood declared, however, that the war had wrought a great change in women wom-en in the- business world. I le believed that the International crisis has brought borne to women the necessity for their help in conducting t he hi i sines:- of the world without a hitch.
