Show POLICEMAN ATTACKED BY THREE MEXICANS Attacked by three Mexicans when he went to arrest one of their number at a coffee house on West Second South street, Patrolman W. F. Crow had a close call early yesterday morning and might not have been alive to tell the story but for the timely arrival of the patrol wagon. Crow entered the place to arrest T. M. Madeno. a Mexican, who had attacked a compatriot with a knife. When the officer seized the offender two other Mexicans leaped upon him. When the wagon arrived Crow had Madeno by the throat, while his two other antagonists antago-nists were hanging on to his right arm to prevent him from using his club. One of the Mexicans escaped. Madeno and the third Mexican were each sentenced to thirty days' imprisonment in the police court yesterday. MEHESY TO AID RED CROSS FUND Today Is Red Cross day at the Me-hesy. Me-hesy. The entire receipts go to the Red Cross fund. Twenty or thirty more boys and girls are wanted to sell tickets at their homes, on the streets and in the stores. Those selling 100 or more tickets not only are turning $5 over to the Red Cross as their share of patriotic duty, but earning for themselves a complimentary compli-mentary pass good for the vacation season sea-son to the Mehesy theater. |
