Show HEW COPPER-SILVER STRIKE IN M10TH Word From Eureka Tells of Important Developments in Old Producer. A strike of considerable importance was made a short time ago on the 400 level of the Mammoth mine, but the news has been held back until the management manage-ment could get a better line on the size and quality of the new deposit, says the Eureka Reporter. When questioned regarding the strike. Manager Earl Mc-Intyre Mc-Intyre stated that the ore had been located lo-cated in an entirely new section of the mine where he ' has been carrying on a campaign of development for some months. The location of the ore body is about 1000 feet to the northeast of the main shaft and the other day there was a fifty-foot face of very nice ore. As it is broken down for shipment it will carry values of about S3 3 per ton. Recent Re-cent assays show almost anywhere from 3 to IS per cent copper and from three to fifty ounces silver, the ore being similar to that which is found in other parts of the Mammoth mine. While the ! Mammoth people have done considerable work to - the northeast of the shaft on j the lower levels that section seems to have been neglected on the upper levels, and t his means that the new strike is in what might be termed virgin territory. terri-tory. That it is one of the most important im-portant finds in recent years is admitted by the officials of the company. 'The Mammoth's present output of about twenty carloads of ore per week is coming from the 400, fiOG, 1600, 11)00 and 1 400 levels, and there appears to be a large amount of ore exposed in this old-time producer. Manager Mclntyre is continually pushing- out into new territory with his prospect drifts and this extensive exten-sive development campaign has been the means of opening up a large amount of good oie. Just at this time the mine is t-hipping about all of the ore that the smelter is prepared to handle, and occasionally oc-casionally the shipments are held down on account of a shortage of railroad cars. This has been the case during the week just past. A force of about 130 men Is being used at this time. |
