Show BRITISH ATTACK WITHOUT SUCCESS, DECLARE TURKS RERUN. Jan. L'1, by wireless to Say-ville. Say-ville. Renewed attacks by the British east of Kut-el-Amara, on the Tigris, have been repulsed, Turkish army headquarters headquar-ters announced in its statement of January Jan-uary 19, which reads: East of Kut-el-Amara the enemy, after several hours' artillery preparation, prepara-tion, delivered three attacks against a portion of our position. All these attacks at-tacks were without success and the enemy suffered heavy losses. Troops of our volunteer cavalry attacked at-tacked a brigade of hostile cavalry on the march. The' enemy's losses were heavy. Our volunteer cavalrymen, in addition, captured three hostile machine ma-chine guns and shot down one aeroplane, aero-plane, the wrecked machine remaining in our hands. On the right wing on the Caucasus front we repulsed attacks undertaken by a hostile company against our outposts. |
