Show DISTRESS SIGNALS PICKED UP ON OCEAN Swedish Steamer Scandinavic Sends Out S. O. S. Calls by Wireless. BOSTON. Jan. 21. W'lreless signals of I distress from the Swedish steamer Scandinavic, Scan-dinavic, three times repeated and the last call verv faint, were picked up early Friday morning by the British freighter Start Point, her officers reported upon the steamer's arrival from Liverpool to-dav. to-dav. As the Scandlnavic's call gave no position and as the Start Point at the time was battling with a gule, it was explained, no attempt was made to reach the distressed vessel. The Scandinavic, bound from Galveston and Norfolk for Christlanla and Gothenburg, Gothen-burg, is believed to be the vessel whoee wireless calls for help, sent from a position po-sition near Cape Race, N. F., were picked up by the tank steamer John V. Arch-bold, Arch-bold, "and reported yesterday. |
