Show POLLY WILL DISPENSE GIFTSJOJDLDIERS Hallowe'en Package Party i to Be Given at Post Tonight. The Sammies at Fort Douglas are happy over the prospects of receiving a visit from Polly. "Who she is or where she is no one knows. It is rumored that she is a composite person not unlike a number of pretty young women who are-prominent are-prominent in public. Tiie soldiers are certain that she is very good, for yesterday morning they found distributed around the camp neat-looking neat-looking handbUls Inviting them to the Y. M. C. A. to register in "Polly's" book. The book contains blanks for a thousand thou-sand names. Polly will give to eveiy soldier who signs his name a package containing something of interest to him. Already she ha countless bundles wrapped in red and orange paper containing con-taining one or more of tiie following articles: arti-cles: Cigars, cigarettes, theater tickets, sweaters, fruit, candy, pies, cakes, playing play-ing cards, wristlets, handkerchief 8. flash lights, mufflers and many other things that will delight the hearts of those fortunate for-tunate enough to receive one. Nor do3 Polly's kind-heartedness end there. At Thanksgiving and at Christmas time Polly will supply two or three thousand thou-sand soldiers with gifts. She says there have been so many requests for packages that it will keep her very busy to provide pro-vide every soldier with on. Many kind-hearted creatures like herself have addressed her, "Polly's Package Post, 70 First avenue," and learned that they could become one of her aide-de-camps by contributing like articles. The first party will be a Hallowe'en package party and will be given tonight. to-night. The packages will be taken to the fort in several automobiles and distributed to the soldiers by a -number of masked ladles. Polly's identity must be kept secret. i |
