The vast store of German scientific Information in this country was opened today, to American Ameri-can manufacturers in regulations issued by the federal trade commission, under which enemy-owner patents and copy-righ copy-righ la will be 1 i censed f or man uf actur by citizens of the United States. When the regulations had been mad public the commission met a group of medical men to consider licensing th manufacture of certain drugs, principally salvarsan, used in virulent blood diseases, and non-toxic substitutes for local anesthetics, anes-thetics, of which the supply in this country coun-try has run low since the war Interrupted Inter-rupted commerce. Approximately 20,000 patented and copyrighted articles are safd to be affected affect-ed by the commission's order. These Include In-clude dyestuff formulas of vital importance impor-tance to American industries and mechanical me-chanical devices of wide use. though the humanitarian effect of the order attracts the widest attention. German thought for many years has been In the forefront of medical research, evolving remedies for diseases and for alleviation of pain, all of which, patented in the United States, will now become available in this country.
