Show MEMORY OF POLICE V MASCOT IS REVERED Harness Belonging to Dog Bunjo, Favorite Fa-vorite of Department, Now Dead, Saved From Auction Sale. Thoughts of the dead yesterday prevented pre-vented the sale by auction of property belonging to an animal that was affectionately affec-tionately regarded by patrolmen at the police station for many years. Lost and stolen goods were put under the hammer at the police station and about 100 persons per-sons attended to bid. The auctioneer offered a dog harness. Fifteen cents was bid for it. "Don't sell that," said Patrolman J. E. Husbands. "Tt belonged to old Bunjo." The auctioneer auc-tioneer reverently laid aside the harness of the old police dog and It will remain at headquarters. Bunjo stands inanimate in the desk sergeant's ser-geant's office. He was sent to a taxidermist taxi-dermist and was returned to the police station looking something like his old self. On Christmas day Uie patrolmen contributed con-tributed sufficient money to buy a glass case for Bunjo. A holly wreath was placed upon the case. |
