Show UTAH YOUTH KILLED ON SALONIKI FRONT Boland Hayward of th Royal Horse Artillery Meets Death in Fighting in the British' Army. The manv friends of Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Hayward, formerly of this city, will be grieved to learn of the death of their son, Roland, who was killed in action on the Salonikl front on December 20. Dr. D. Moore Lindsay has received a telegram from Mr. Hayward stating that the war office in England cabled the sad news Christmas morning. Young Hayward Hay-ward was 19 years of age when lie was graduated from the Royal Military college, col-lege, Woolwich, England, last summer. He received his commission in the Royal Horse artillery. While at Woolwich he distinguished himself as a daring horseman and was one of the three cadets chosen to ride before the late Lord Kitchener on his last visit to England. After making several sev-eral trips to France he was sent to Greece, where he arrived December 4. R. F. Hayward, while a resident of this city, was one of the officials of the Utah Light & Power company. He went from here to Mexico City to take charge of the Mexico City Light & Power company, com-pany, proceeding later to Vancouver, B. C.. where he now resides. The young officer of-ficer was born in Utah and had many friends in this state. |
