Show BELIEVE JEROME TO BE ANOTHER BUTTE JKROMF. Ariz., Dec. 26. That the history his-tory uf Butte will be repeated in Jerome Je-rome is a belief that is steadily gaining ground here. In Butte- it was thought for years that the ore lay within a certain circumscribed circum-scribed area. Then certain bold spirits drilled holes In the lime down on the Hats miles away from the camp and found copper. The first person to suggest that the same tiling might be true here, that there might be great lenses of ore down in the fiat country away from the precipitous slopes of the Black hills range, was W. I- O'Brien, himself an old resident of Butte. O'Brien has formed the United Val Verde Copper company, which holds a group of claims two miles northwest of Jerome. Within a short time he will have a diamond drill exploring the Fnited Val Verde and also the near-by Jerome North Star group, in which he is interested. inter-ested. The Jerome Consolidated Copper company com-pany holds a group of claims just a little lit-tle nearer town than t he Fnited Val Verde. R. T. Bent ley, its organizer, is now in the east financing the company for diamond drill operations. Though these groups are almost entirely en-tirely covered with a heavy blanket of lime, they are not entirely without surface sur-face indications. There are several large outcrops of iron-stained quartz and copper cop-per float has been found in that section. East and southeast of Jerome, between be-tween this camp and the Verde river, are beds of lime without any surface indications of ore, yet this ground is not regarded without favor. One of the properties prop-erties down in the limestone is the Mln-gns Mln-gns group of eight claims, formerly owned by Victor Clloborn and J. H. Ons-rud, Ons-rud, of Clarkdale. It is near the TXin-dee-Arizona, Green Monster and outlying outly-ing claims of the U. V. Extension- Walter Wal-ter Harvey Weed, the eminent geologist, geolo-gist, recently went over the Mingus and recommended Its development by the diamond dia-mond drill method. j |
