Show UTAH SENATORS TO WORK FOR SUFFRAGE Mira Alice Paul, Chairman of Congres fdonal Union. Interviews Smoot and Sutherland. Special to The Tribune. WASHLNXfTON, Sept. 11. Miss Alice Paul, chairman uf the Congressional Congres-sional union, says that Senators Smoot and Sutherland of of Utah and Brady of Idaho have promised their assistance in getting a vote of congress noxt session ses-sion on the amendment to the constitution constitu-tion removing eex qualification from the ballot. Miss Paul says that Senator Sraoot said he would use his position as Republican Re-publican spokesman in the senate to further woman suffrage, and that he was resolved that in the nest session no one should take advantage of the rules of the senate to work against the stiff rage resolution. Senator Slither land is quoted as saving, "You are making wonderful strides notwithstanding notwithstand-ing that the law books say suffrage is a right and not a privilege. I assure you that, the fause you advocate will have my support. ' ' Sixty delegates, Miss Paul says, will represent. 1'tah at the Women 'Voters' r:onveution to be held on the Panama-Pacific Panama-Pacific exposition grounds Tuesday, Weducsdny and Thursday next. |
