He served through the civil war. being a member of company K, Eleventh Michigan cavalry, and company com-pany K. Eighth Michigan cavalry, re reiving hi. discharge September 27, 1R6.V He is survived bv one son, John R. Hunter. Jr.. of Salt t.ake. Shortly after tho close of the war Mr. Hunter went to Arizona, and in that then wild territory was one o the pioneer pio-neer pony express riders for many years. He came to Salt Lake in 197 and engaged en-gaged in the mercantile business up until un-til the time of his last illness. |
