Storey. There will be between 18,000 and 20.000 individual notices, all of which will be sent out through the mails at the same time. The . new law passed at the last session ses-sion of the state legislature provide for a radical change in the method of collecting taxes this year, in that taxes will become delinquent on December 4 instead of November 15, as formerly. Also instead of Ihe usual delinquent fee of 25 cents regardless of the amount of taxes, the new law provides for a delinquent fee of 3 per cent of the total amount to be paid. If. for in- stance, according to Treasurer Storey, a property owner rs tax assessment amounts to $100 he will be required to pay an additional $3 if he fails to pay it before 12 o'clock noon December 4. In fixing the later time for delinquency delin-quency the legislature also net September Septem-ber 26 as the day for assessment books to be turned over to the treasurer, but the treasurer's office received the books from the auditor's office several days ago. This gave the treasurer force additional time in which to prepare the annual notices and also made if unnecessary unnec-essary to work a force of clerks at night, as in former years. Taxes will be payable at the treasurer's treas-urer's office upon receipt of the first and only notice. The levy this year is 41.8 mills or $4.18 on every $100 worth of assessed property in Ogden City, and 25.8 mills or $L88 on $100 worth of property in Weber county outBide of the city. In addition to this six coun trv districts are required to pay a 3-mill 3-mill road tax. For the state bounty fund there will be a collection of 4 mills on range cattle and horses and S mills on sheep and goats, the levy in each case applying to each dollar of assessed valuation. |
