Show UTAH MAY SHARE. According to San Francisco advices, trade conditions between California and Mexican and South American west, coast ports have shown such sharp activity that the five plying steamship lines are overburdened over-burdened and vessels for the trade arc at a premium. This business does not. depend upon the continuation of the war in Europe, but is a natural development. develop-ment. It is generally thought that the opening of the Panama canal would throw a considerable portion of trade on the west coast of South America into the hands of the big cities in the eastern portion of the United 'States, but it does not seem to have worked out ei-aetly ei-aetly in that manner, and The Tribune is glad of it. The states on the Pacific slope are filled with hustling, enterprising enterpris-ing people, and are entitled to a share of the commerce of the world, and wo have faith to believe that ultimately Utah products will be shipped over the seas at a profit. |
