Show REDS OFFERED TO FEDERALS, LATESTREPORT Owner Weeghman of the Whales Says He Could Have Had Stock; Stories Are Conflicting. CHICAGO, Aug. 14. Control of the stock of the Cincinnati National league club was offered to Charles H. Weeghman. Weegh-man. president of the Chicago Federals, for $255,000 yesterday, hut the offer was declined, it became known today. Weeghman said that Charles B. Bult-man, Bult-man, a broker of Cincinnati, who is acting act-ing for Warren N. Carter of Pasadena, Cal., a prospective Duver of the club, displayed certificates for 51 per cent of the stock. "Bultman assured rne that he could deliver the goods, ' ' Weeghman said, ' ' but when I did not warm up to the proposition it was suggested that we get President Gihnore of the federal league at New York. Mr. Bultman had a talk with him, but what he was told I do not know. "It was not a new thing to President Gilmore, however, as the league was offered the controlling interest in the Cincinnati club a month ago. At that time the offr was turned down as we do not wish to break up any league. I still believe in the sentimentnl part, of the game, and that is the reason f would not listen to the offer of Mr. Bultman.
