Show NEW DIFFERENTIAL GIVES MORE POWER Capital Electric Secures Agfency for Important Mechanical Feature. The gcarless differential has at last been invented. Kver since automobiles came into use mechanical engineer" hove sought for a means to transmit power to both rear wheels at all tit.i"S and at the same time allow a freo wheel to take the curvtsA. This has been accomplished ac-complished now in the gearless differential. differ-ential. The Capital Klectrie company has secured the western selling rights for this new differential, and it- now installing in-stalling a number of them on Ford cars. As yet the manufacturers are only building these differentials tor Fords, but later purpose to make them for all ears. Manager Colt of the supply department depart-ment ot the Capital Electric says:. We have received the first few samples of this important mechanical mechani-cal part of a car and have two installed in-stalled on Kord cars. Later we expect ex-pect to receive a shipment to fit Overlanda and Buicks. This differential dif-ferential only has to be demonstrated demon-strated to be understood. The fact that you have power on both rear wheels at the same time is the important im-portant feature. I can jack up one of the rear wheels of a Ford car with the differential fitted in and then start the engine and pull the car off the ja-ck with the other rear wheel. Here is another important im-portant feature: In muddy road the rear of the car will not skid because the car is driven evenly by both wheels. It is power alone on one rear' wheel that causes a car to slip side wise, or skid, as it is commonly called. With power equal on both wheels this is impossible. im-possible. Then again, there is no spinning of one rear wheel in a mud hole, stalling the car. Everyone who drives a car in muddy roads knows what this means. Another feature of the gearloss differential is that it prevents sudden jars in driving over rough or bumpy roads. With the ordinary car wfien one wheel leaves the roar on account of a bump, it immediately begins to spin around in the air. It- travels faster ( nan the other wheel, and when the car settles down on the ' road there is a Buddcn .-jar, due to the faster spinning wheel. This is I especially hard on tires as well as one's nerves. After a thorough trvoot of this new differential I believe it will entirely do away with the old style as soon as the manufacturers can supply the demand.
