Show 10WST01 CAUSE OF AUTO - ACCIDENT Mr. and Mrs. Lewis A. Marks Injured in Crash With Street Car. Ths bHndliiff snowstorm which struck the city at 1 o'clock this morning was the cause of an automobile accident at Second Sec-ond South and Eighth East streets, in which Mr. and Mrs. Lewis A. Marks were injured. Mrs. Marks was badly cut and bruised about the face and hands by flying fly-ing glass from the windshield of their automobile and Mr. Marks was bruised from being thrown violently against the steering wheel of tile machine. The last eastbound car on the Second South street line was stalled near the corner cor-ner of Eighth East street when the power was temporarily shut off. At the same time the arc lights along the street went out. Mr. Marks was driving his Cadillac machine east on Second South street and ran headlong into the rear of the street car. the snow on his windshield obstructing obstruct-ing his view. While he applied the emergency emer-gency brakes, the street was slippery and the machine had headway enough to hit the car. Mr. and Mrs. Marks were thrown forward, the latter Into the windshield and the former into the steering wheel. Passengers on the street car called a taxi-cab taxi-cab and summoned Dr. E. F. Root, who aUended Mr. and Mrs. Marks at their home, 90S East Second South street. The automobile was badly damaged. |
