Show CRIMINAL CASES CALLED. Prison Sentence and County Jail Sen-tences Sen-tences Imposed by Court. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN, Feb. 2. Criminal cases occupied occu-pied the attention of Judge J. A. Howell for a considerable time this morning, the session resulting in one prison sentence, one county jail sentence and two pleas of not guilty on felony charges. liud Donell. colored, changed a former plea of not guilty to guilty on the charge of burglary and was sentenced to serve an indeterminate indeter-minate term in the state prison. On the suggestion of the district attorney, one year will be recommended to the state board uf pardons. David Barnes, who recently pleaded not guilty to a charge of grand larceny, entered en-tered a plea of guilty before Judge Howell, How-ell, when the charge had been reduced to petty larceny. He was sentenced to serve two months in the county jail. An attorney attor-ney was appointed to defend Joseph Hunt, who pleaded not guilty to the charge of forgery. He will be tried before Judge N. J. Harris next Saturday, as Judge Howell is disqualified to preside in his Case. Hunt is alleged to have passed a forged check for $10 at the store conducted con-ducted by W. C. Howell, brother of the jurist. Charles Sheedy entered a plea of not guilty to the charges of forgery and issuing issu-ing a fictitious check. His case will be placed on the regular calendar. |
