Show BETA THETA PI MAY ESTABLISH A HOME Members of Fraternity Hold Meeting and DiscuBS Building of Local Cnapter House. The Beta Theta Pi association of Utah consisting of membeis of the local Gtamma Beta chanter of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity and alumni from colleges over the United States, held a meeting last niht in the Commercial ciub to consider plans for building a fraternity house for the local chapter near the University of Utah. For the past seven years the local fraternity, until a year ago known as the Alpha Pi fraternity, has been planning- to build a fraternity home. Plans are now said to be nearly complete whereby the university students can establish themselves in a home of their own. A number of the alumni members at last night's meeting suggested methods meth-ods of raising funds, and several members mem-bers of the organization offered contributions con-tributions ranging from $100 to $2-50 for the general fund to bo raised. The Beta Theta Pi fraternity of Utah owns a lot on University avenue and Second South street, at the entrance to the university gates. It is being planned to build a house costing approximately ap-proximately $25,000 on this site. The committee in charge, consisting of Morris Mor-ris W. Forbes, George Kiebnor and Charles Van Pelt, reported last night that a portion of the necessary sum had already been raised. At present the only fraternity of the university which owns its home is tae Sigma Chi chapter, which has a house on 1395 East First South street. |
