Show $100,000 EMERGENCY BILL PREVENTED FROM PASSAGE After half an hour's sharp discussion the house yesterday prevented the passage pas-sage of an emergency appropriation of $100,000 for the grading of the ca pi to grounds. The appropriation was proposed iiti a bill Introduced yesterday by Representative Repre-sentative Kniil S. Lund of Snlt Lnk Representative Parley P. Christpnseii moved that the rules be suspended and the bill placed on Us final passage. This was favored by Representatives Lund. Bevan. Shields and others and opposed bv Representatives Day. Morris. MeShano and Burton, and the bill was totally referred re-ferred to the committee on appropriations, with the understanding that it would be given prime consideration by that committee. com-mittee. The reason why the bill was urged whs the fact that the governor had recommended recom-mended the passage of such a bill in order or-der to provide work for hundreds now j out of employment. |
