Show HOUSE COMMITTEES OPPOSE PUBLICITY An effort to make committee meetings of the house public and to make a matter mat-ter of official record the vote on bills in committee was defeated yesterday' in the house by a vote of SO to 14. Representative Repre-sentative P. P. Christensen introduced this amendment to the rules of the house yesterday. After some discussion the motion was made to lay the proposed amendment on the table, which had thy effect of killing it, and the motion was carried by the following vote: Ayes Aagard, Allen, Barker, Blackett, Bringerhoff, Browning, Burton, Child, Day, Fitch. Folkman, Fowles, Griffin. Ha wley, Ilincley, Horsley, Kelly, Mc-fihano, Mc-fihano, Mabey. Meeks. Morris. O'Neil, Pope, Redd, Stewart, Taylor. Van Wagoner, Wag-oner, Warnick, Wing, Speaker Anderson Ander-son 30. Nays Bevan. Brown, Christensen, Croft, Kinds, Goodwin, Wayward, Lund, Nebeker, Oldham, Page, Peterson, Shields, Wolstenholme I!. All of the Republicans opposed the resolution reso-lution and they were Joined by several Democrats and Progresses. |
