THEEE attendants to assist the health department nurses in the operation of the municipal milk stations were appointed by the city commission last night on recommendation recom-mendation of Dr. Samuel G. Paul, city health commissioner. They are Lois North, Mrs. Matilda Bliss and Miss Joy Richards. The relief society of the Mormon church is to pay half their salaries, which will be $50 a month. With one of these attendants on duty at each station the nurses will be free to work from , the stations into the homes of the babies that come to the attention of the department.- The milk stations are now running full blast. Dr. Paul is enthusiastic over the results already obtained and predicts pre-dicts that when the summer is over there will be far less than the usual number of new little graves in the cemetery. cem-etery. Dozens of babies are being brought to the stations by their mothers moth-ers daily for consultation with Dr. B. W. Ashley, who maintains regular daily hours at each station. An important feature of the work is the little mothers' clubs that have been formed at each station. These clubs convene once a week for lectures by the nurses on how to care for babies. ba-bies. The members are the little girls of from 12 to 16 years who have to help their mothers in the care of the younger children. At each station the health department has installed exhibits dealing with the topics of baby culture, such as shown in the photograph. The general public is invited to visit the stations and view the exhibits. |
