Show TEI5 WILL BEGIN SECOKDJULF TODAY Fight for Championship of Last Period Promises to Be Hard Fought. The second half of the Union association asso-ciation season will start today. From present indications the fight for the title will be as bard fought as was tiaat for the first half, with Helena in a much better financial condition than ever before. Butte will open on Lucas field, Murray in Ogden and Helena on the Boise battlefield. This is the same order in which the league opened its season in April. In that series here the Ducks took two out of five, while Murray split with, the Canners. In the Idaho capital the Irrigators took rive out of six. The Infants are in a crippled condition condi-tion owintr to the loss of Clynes and Menkes, but Dr. C. P. Harvielle says the club's president has started negotiations nego-tiations with several men in California and says he will be in the fight throughout. Bill Quigley, manager of the Helena club, has several star hitters on his roster, and with a couple of new pitchers the Vigilantes will be a strong organization. The showing of But to in the past two series has been brilliant. In the first half Butte was the only club to give Salt Lake a hard fight, and the Sea Gulls were able to win but five game from Holmes's team. Jn lat week's series at Butte the Ducks took six out of seven from tbo Infants. With the addition of Sawyer and Bradv to the infield the hitting strength of the club has been strengthened, as hoth men are .300 hitters. MeClellanrl 's hitting score for the past week also puts him in the honor class. Ogden and the Sea Gulls will present pre-sent the same lineup as in the first season. Howard Murphy's return will be a great help to the Canners, as he is ono of the best batsmen in the league. Today 's game on Luas field will start at 3:30 o'clock. For Butte the probable choice will be .7 esse Garrett or Esley McCreery, both among the bst in the league. McCreerv entered the hall of fame last week hv clouting a home run. For the Sea Gulls John Fitzgerald will probably do the pitching. |
