Show in cue join CLEIWICOIEeii For Six Weeks People of State Will Engage in Beautifying Campaign. The "Clean Town Contest" that was inaugurated by the Development League of Utah, began yesterday, a nd for six weeks the people throughout the state will be busy cleaning up their cities. The cities and towns are divided into classes A, B, C, D, E and F. To the cleaneit city or town in its class the Development league will give as a prize a drinking fountain. Secretary Kirkham of the Development Develop-ment league ha s received applications from the following cities and towns for admittance to the "Clean Town Contest:" Class A, Salt Lake City and Ogden; class B, Murray Brlgham, Provo; class C, Springville, Lehl, Xephi, American Fork, Park Citv, Spanish Fork and Kich-field; Kich-field; class D, Smlthrield, Ephraim, Cedar City Mantl, Richmond, Pleasant Grove, Beaver, Bountiful, St. George and Pay-son; Pay-son; class K, Vernal, Providence, Salina, Fillmore, Morgan, Kaysvillen Fairview, Sandv, Parowan, Coalville, Panguitch and Farmington; class F, Levan. Millville, Hurricane, Tremonton, Grayson, Garland, Randolph. Scipio. Washington, Moab. Ka-nab, Ka-nab, Kamas, West Bountiful, May field, Mfnersville, Salem and Alpine. The Development league has sent a letter to all of the . cities and towns that have entered containing suggestions for the cleaning up of the town. Streets, alleys and sidewalks should be the first cleaned. Weeds and underbrush of all nature should be cut and destroyed. Local Lo-cal conditions will, of course, be a prime factor in the work. When possible the town should be districted and the districts dis-tricts be paroled by captains. In some places there already has been a regular organization of ciean-up committees with aides and assistants for all parts of the work. In many of the small towns the final day will be a gala day with speeches and entertainments. The committee of the league will furnishe speakers upon request re-quest to give suggestions. |
