Show TO ERECT TABLET II MERIT Of SOLDIERS Utah Society, Sons of American Amer-ican Revolution, Would Place It in Capitol. A bronze tablet in memory of the soldiers sol-diers who gave their lives in the American Ameri-can revolution will be placed in the Utah state capitol in the near future by the L'tah. society of Sons of the American Revolution. The tablet was tendered the capitol commission yesterday by the society so-ciety and was accepted by the commission. commis-sion. It will be placed in the rotunda of the capitol as soon as the exact location loca-tion for the tablet is fixed. Representing the Sons of the American Ren'olution, D. S. Spencer, president of the Utah society; E. O. Lee, Albert R. Barnes and C. P. Overfield appeared be fore the capitol commission yesterday and tendered the tablet. The commission suspended the routine business to receive re-ceive the committee. Formal application applica-tion wag made for permission to present pre-sent the' tablet and on motion of John Dern the capitol commission passed a resolution by unanimous vote granting the authority to the committee to place the tablet in the rotunda. On behalf ot the commission a committee, com-mittee, consisting of Anthon H. Lund, John Dern. Albert R. Barnes and Coionel C. E. Loose, was named to act with the committee of Sons of the American Revolution Revo-lution to select the place in the rotunda ro-tunda -where the tablet will be placed. The tablet will probably be of bronze, twenty-four by thirty-six inches, and will lie Inscribed with a sentiment honoring the men who fought in the struggle for American independence. The design has practically been agreed upon and the tablet will be made as soon as the action ac-tion of the committee is approved by the society. - The commission suggested that the tablet be placed iust as soon as practicable. It is probable that there will be a ceremony at the new capitol when the tablet is placed in the rotunda. |
