Show FOOTBALL PLAYERS DISLIKE JEWELRY Carl Oleson, captain of the high school football team and president of tho athletic ath-letic association at the school, absented himself from the campus yesterday. His absence necessitated the postponement of an association meeting scheduled for yesterday, at which the gridiron warriors who have played throe years of football Intended to propose an amendment regarding re-garding the awards to plaj'ors. The constitution of the association awards sweaters with the "H" for tho first year of playing. "IV pins of a small size for the second year, a larger "II" pin for the third year and a watch fob for tho fourth year of playing. The boys complain that this is too much Jewelry; that the second-year pin ifl n convenient size and the larger one would be useless for ornamentation. They declare that rather than a pin thev would appreciate some gift of utility, arid suggest blankets similar to those of the Colorado "Tigers." Such blankets could be furnished fur-nished at less expense than tho gold pins. In case the blankets arc selected, Captain Oleson. Cahoon, Naylor and Ward will be the three-year men to receive re-ceive them. Cliff Naylor has been persuaded to return re-turn to school next fall, and as Harry Kllpatrlck declares that he will not come back the big tackle will have no opposition opposi-tion for tho captaincy. |
