Monday morning at 10:30 tho case of Brigham City corporation vs. W. B. Jensen came up for hearing In Justice James Knudson's court on a change of venue from the court of Justice J. L. Bowring. Night AVatchman George Cheal testlllcd to being badly beaten by Jensen on the night of March 2-1. The defendant admitted all the charges and was fined $-0. Two young men of the town appeared before Justice Bowring Monday afternoon for fighting. The gentlemen had cvldentlv becomp. very unfriendly to each other anil a list fight seemed to be the only wav to settle the matter. They went behind a care on Forest street and wero mixing in great shape when tho officers nabbed them. They were fined ?5 each, which they promptly paid. A saloon man appeared the samo day before Justice Bowring. charged with permitting per-mitting persons to remain in his saloon after 11 o'clock, tho closing time. He pleaded guilty and was fined $20. William Horslcy &. Sons' dry goods store was burglarized yesterday, and a lo' of merchandise was carried awav. The thieves ransacked the clothing, hat and shirt departments, scattering goods all over tho floor, lp order to get what they wanted. A number of suits, hats anil shirts were carried away. Enlrnnco was forced through an office window in the rear of the building. It is believed that two men captured at Colllnston, twenty miles north from here, nro the thieves |
