Show SAN FRANCISCO CELEBRATES EXTERMINATION OF PLAGUE SAN PRAKCISCO. March 31. San Francisco celebrated officially the elosc of its campaigu against bubonic plaguo tonight by giving a public dinner to Dr. Rupert Bluo of the United States Marine hospital service and his corps of executive officers. Pour hundred citizens cit-izens gathered in the big ballroom of the Fairmont hotel as an expression of their appreciation of tho work duno by Dr. I31uc and his assistants. Among thoso present wore Governor Gillette. Mayor Taylor of San Francisco, Fran-cisco, Dr. Martiu Rpgcnsbergcr, president presi-dent of tho state board of health; Dr. Phillip Mills Jones, secretary of the California State Medical society; Dr. "N". K. Foster of the state board of health; Past Assistant. Surgeon W. C. llobdy of tho Augcl Island qnarantino station. Surgeon If. W. Austin of tho San Francisco Marino hospital, and the members of. the city board of health. Impromptu specches'werc made bj' the following: Dr. Blue, Homer S- King, chairman of the citizens' health committee, who presided; Charles S. Wheeler, who acted as toastmaster; Governor Gillette, Mayor May-or Taylor, Dr. Regcusberger, Dr. T. W. Huntington of the San Francisco board of health, Dr. Phillip M. Jones and Walter Wal-ter MacArthur, a prominent labor leader. At tho close of I he dinner Mayor Taylor, Tay-lor, on behalf of (he citizens of San Francisco, presented Dr. Blue with a handsomo gold watch. |
