V. held a larc and enthusiastic meeting Friday afternoon j at. the residence of 2drs. IT. 17. II isle cy. I flyy East Second South street. There j wore nearly fifty ladies present and an interesting programme was rendered. I The committee annointed at the last; I meeting to effect the removal of the j obsccno postcards, which aro on exhi- bition in the windows of many of the ; drug and stationery stores of tho citv, reported that they had visited a number num-ber of the owners of tjic offending stores and in several enses the cards have been removed. If the cards arc not removed from the windows of all tho stores within a very short time tho women intend to take' the matter before be-fore the City Council, j Thore were several visitors from Enstorn cities present, and IMiss Mc-Cltirc Mc-Cltirc of Springfield, ro., gave an interesting in-teresting talk on the benefits of worn-man's worn-man's meetings, and the W. 1. T. U. of Springfield. The results of tho clipping clip-ping contest, which tho ladies decided to enter into at the last meeting, are not yet fully known. This contest wns for the purpose of seeing who could find tho most articles in the various magazines concerning local option and prohibition. Ono lady brought with her a string fifty-three yards long; and it is not yet known for sitro whether or not there aro any others longer than this one.
