Show COLORADO OPT! KJffl GIVER Great Tintic Property and Tin-tic Tin-tic Smelter Are in the Deal. TEN-YEAR CONTRACT FOR ALL KNIGHT ORES Cole-Ryan Syndicate Likely to Corral These Prime Utah Interests. if "Have 3'ou civen an option on, or sold, the Colorado mino and sraeltor?" was the question asked Jcsso Knight Saturday afternoon by Tho Tribune. Air. Knight was in Salt Lake, accompanied accom-panied by ,T. William Knight and W. Lester Mnucum, on business connected with their various interests. "There may bo and there niay not be an option, but ono thing is sure," he roplied, "they aro not sold." and Mr. Knight emphasized the word "sold" with his usual genial smile. "Sometimes you boys ask us such pointed questions that we cannot answer them," ho added. It is known, however, that Ernest Woplley and associates have secured an option on tho control of the Colorado Mining company, and the Tintic smelter which Mr. Knight completed late last year. It is also pretty well known that Mr. Woolley left Saturday noon for New York City with that samo option buttoned up in his insido pocket, and in spito of tho secrecy that has surrounded sur-rounded tho transaction all tho way through, it is protty definitely known that Mr. Woolley will hold conferences with the Cole lJyan syndicate in New York City looking towards tho transfer of this option. The Cole-T?van syndicate syndi-cate is now better and moro properly known as the International Smelting and defining company, tho company building a mammoth smelting plant near Salt Luko in Tooelo county, and which recently secured the control of tho Giroux mines in Ely. Things began to assume an option hue several days ago. aftor it was ascertained as-certained that Mr. Woolley and Captain Cap-tain Duncan MacVichio had visited the Colorado mino at Tintic. Tho Colorado is so well known to Utahns that more than a brief statement of its achievements achieve-ments is unnecessary here. The Colorado Colo-rado has produced, a million and a half dollars' worth of oro. and it is ono of the most generous silver-lead dividend payors of the country- While experts havo not agrocd as to tho exact amount of ores left untouched in the mine. f hoy do agree that there aro several million dollars' worth of splondid oro available for stoping purposes, tho estimates ranging from ten to fifteen million dollars dol-lars ' worth of resources. It is understood that there is somo sort of an agreement wrapped up within this option calling for tho treatment of all the ores from the Knight properties for a period of ten years. That this portion of the deal is severely emphasized empha-sized by Mr. Knight and his associates is evident from his remark yesterday to tho effect that he would not part with his smelter until be was assured that all his remaining mining properties would bo resting under a safo and sane smelting agreement for the period mentioned. men-tioned. There is every reason to believe be-lieve that this portion of tho deal will' be especially agreeable to the Internationa Interna-tiona Smelting and "Refining company, for it would be no small item to have the exclusive- right to all tho Knight ores, and if tho company gets in at Park Gitv, as local circles anticipate, it will have the control of over 75 per cent, of tho lead-silver output of the state of Utah. Should the International company, com-pany, therefore, round out this deal, it will have accomplished against its older rivals in tho Utah smelting field what the newspaper fraternity call a "scoop." Without extra effort, ono recalls in addition jto the Colorado, tho Iron Blossom, Blos-som, which promises now to be the equal of the Colorado; the Opex. King David. Indian Queen, Tbcx. Mountain Lake. Plutus. Mineral Flat, East Crown Point and Miller Hill, among tho few well known Knight mining enterprises. Mr. Knight has at. least thirty propositions proposi-tions on his hands, and fully one-third of tho total could be placed in producing pro-ducing condition' within a short time. It is apparent that thsc and other Knight mines will be well protected, or are now well protected, before tho smelter changes hands. Friends of Mr. Knight state that the sme'ter has cost him more than ho had anticipated, and he can afford to let go at his time of life without continuing the worries and difficulties incident to so great an array of interests now demanding de-manding the constant application of time and brain. Tie hids fair to become one of the richest men in tho country, and can nffnrd now to ease up a bit after his strenuous efforts of the pnst few years. No career over was more spectacular in TTtah mining that his. and easing up a bit does not mean complete com-plete idleness. TIo will have all his time now for the development of his other properties, and at least one of these, the Iron Blossom, now has bonanza proportions. San Francisco Mining Stocks. SAN" FRANCISCO.
