Arrangements arc being mado by tho (wecutivu committee of tho forty-third national encampment of tho C A, Jf., to bo held in this city, August 0 to 11, for tho entertainment of President Wil: liam If. Taft here during tho affair. A handsomo invitation has been prepared, which will be forwarded to the representatives repre-sentatives of tho state of lUah in the senate and house of representatives, and will be. presented by them to Mr. Taft Tt is felt, that as tho president of tho United States has often visited tho national encampments of tho G. A. R. in tho past, Mr. Taft will bo able to attend the one hero next summer. Tlio invitation is in the form of a folder, handsomolj- bound in blue vl-vot vl-vot and tied with red, whito and blue ribbons. On the titlo pago is embossed tho great, seal of tho stato of Utah iu blue, under which nro spread two unfurled un-furled American flags with crossed standards. Under tlio flags is placed a monogram in red, white and blue of tlio official insignia of tho O. A. R. and tho words "August 0 to M, 100f), Salt Lake City." Tho invitation proper is j engraved, and wordod as follows: "Tho executive committoo of the forty-third national encampment of tho Grand Army of tho Republic, tho citizens citi-zens of Salt Lake City and tho commonwealth common-wealth of Utah, have tho honor to cordially cor-dially invito Hon. Willinm II. Taft. President of tho United States of America, Amer-ica, to be present on the occasion of tho J said encampment on tho ninth to tho fourteenth, inclusive, of August, Nino- , teen hundred und nine." ' |
