Show I NEWS OF MANTI Special to Tho Tribune. MANTI. Feb. 20. At the Bon-ton skating skat-ing rink Saturday evening the six-mllo relay race, between John T. Thorton and Foster Kenne of ManM, against two of Ephralm"s crack skaters, resulted In an easy victory for tho Mantl boys. L. R. Anderson, T. J. Anderson nnd Loo ICcnncr havo recently made a trip to Antclopp Island to purchase registered cattle, with which to stock their ranches In Sallna canyon. W, D. Livingston spent the early part of the week In Mantl. Representative P. P. Dyrcng camo down from Salt Lake Sunday and returned on Monday. An old-fashioned spelling match was one of the interesting features at the meeting of the Lades' Literary club, held Thursdny afternoon. Tho contesting sides were lead by Mrs. Lewis Larsen and Mrs. A. H. Chrlstensen. Mrs. Luclla Harmon proved to be tho best speller, Henry McKlnney and L. Andorson of Moroni wore In Mantl Thursday and Friday. Fri-day. Dr. G. W. Martin, who, together with Rev. Joseph McLain and Rev. E. Hanks, have been holding revival meetings at Ephralm, returned home Thursday afternoon. after-noon. About fifty people, residents of Nophl, have been here during tho week, doing temple work. Mr. and Mrs. James McDonald entertained enter-tained at a family dinner Thursday, in honor of Mrs. Quince Crawford, It being 1 her birthday. Ono of the most brilliant affairs of the wock was the party given Thursday evening by Mr. and Mrs. Warren Snow to thirty-six of their fiends. The rooms of their home wero beautifully decorated with ferns and smilax. The early part of the evening was devoted to games, and cards wore played later on, prizes being won by Quince Crawford and Mrs. Mamie Clark. An elaborate luncheon and punch was served. Mrs. Snow was assisted by Mrs. James Crawford and the Misses Christy, Maggie and Alta Crawford. Mrs. Snow entertained the ladles of the Literary Lit-erary club Saturday afternoon. Mrs. J. H. Hornung and daughter, Margaret, Mar-garet, left for a week's visit in Salt Lako City on Tuesday. A very successful social affair of tho wfolc was glviui Wednesday evening by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Shanu. The evening even-ing was pleasantly spent at cards. IDr. p. P. Harmon were most agreeably surprised by nbout thirty of their friends. Saturday evening, the event being Mrs. Harmon's birthday. The evening even-ing was spent In games and -Duslc. Refreshments Re-freshments wero served. The annual military ball given by company com-pany F. N. G. V., will tako place nt tho opera house on the evening of Washington's Washing-ton's birthday. Two hundred invitations have been Issued by tho committee In charge. Mr. and Mr3. P. II. Madsen entertained at a family dinner. Friday, in honor of their daughter Eunice's wedding anniversary, anniver-sary, Mrs. G. W. Iflartln spent tho first of tho week In Mount Pleasant, visiting her daughter Jennie, who Is teaching In tho Wnsatch academy. Miss Mabel Sperry of Colorado Is visiting visit-ing friends In Mantl. Miss Sadlo Staker, who hna boon visiting visit-ing her parents at Annabclle; returned Tuesday. Attorney J. W. Cherry of Mount Pleasant Pleas-ant was In Mantl on business tho first of the week. |
