Show PLANS FOR CARNIVAL Big Time Being Arranged for at Salt Palaco Next Thursday. Elaborate plans are being made to make the grand ball and masked carnival to be held at the Salt Palace next Thursday Thurs-day one of tho biggest and most enjoyable affairs held there this season. At flrflt the purpose of the committee was to have the mnsklng restricted to tho palace hall, but it has now doclded to have masking general all over the grounds, which will guarantee a pleasant time for maskers who do not dance. This will bo the first carnival to be hold in this city sinco' the street carnival, carni-val, about four years ago. Arrangements have been made with the Denver & Rio Grande to bring in excursions from the north and south, and It is expected that there will bo fully 1000 merry-makers from outside points. Throe hundred dollars dol-lars will be given In prizes for costumes worn, the principal ones being a $50 cash prize for the best sustained character, $25 cash for tho best king, $25 cash for tho best queen, $10 casb for tho best group of Ave, $50 cash for the moBt elaborate elab-orate costume. A novel programme Is being arranged and will be engaged In by well-known people ot tho town, but no ono will know who they are, as they will bo masked. |
