Show JOSEPH HALL IS DEAD. Well-Known Ogden Man Receives Pinal Summons, Special to Tho Tribune. OGDEN, Sept. 1. Joseph Hall, one of the best known men In this city, died at his resldonco at 2C3 Twonty-slxth street at 0:65 this morning, at tho ago of 70 years. Mr. Hall, or "Judge" Hall, as ho was better known, was of English stock nnd was born in Birmingham, England, August Au-gust 6 1825. He was baptized in tho f.r ,of tho Lat-ler-day Saints December -5, 1841. Mr. Hall left England for Utah in 1855, after serving as a home missionary, and arrived In the United States In May of the same year, and in Utah on October -S. 185o. He participated in the Echo Canyon war aud was one of tho army that the Mormons raised In opposition to Johnston's army, which was sent to Utah to command respect for United StateB authority. Judge Hall had been nn active figure in the public life of Ogden nnd Weber county, and was also a journalist of more than ordinary merit and ability. He was at one time Justice of tho Peace In Ogden, Og-den, and it was from that service that ue oDtnmed his title. About a yenr ago Judge Hall had the misfortune to fall down an area In tho alley just wost of the Broom hotel on Twenty-fifth street, and while he recovered recov-ered from the effects of the accident. It Is thought that this had something to do : with his sudden demise. |
