' ' Talks of Idaho Trip. Speaking of his trip to Idaho. Mr. Powers said: "I seo tho people ot that Stato have entered upon a political campaign, the result of which is of groat moment to the people of this entire en-tire country. I am, as you may divine, a life-long Republican, but I can seo that there is a principlo involved in the campaign in Idaho greater than that involved in party politics. As a Eepublican, I realize that the re-election of Fred T. Dubois to thot Senato of the United States, at this timo, moans that American principles, as understood un-derstood in this great roprescntativo government of tho people, musta and shall prevail over and above the intervention inter-vention and teachings of tho hiorarchs of a so-called religiouB organization, whoso practicos are now, and always have been, un-American and subvoraivo of tho free exercise of American citizenship. citi-zenship. "Church control of civic government and a belief in tho divine principle of Solygamy, practiced whore It can be otic with safety, are tho basic principles princi-ples of the Mormon church, as we understand un-derstand it in Nebraska. "What about Smooths chanceB of retaining re-taining his seat in the Senate? Well, it is my opinion that when the matter is voted upon our Senators will record their names on tho American side of the question, thereby justly rofleoting the sentiment of 95 per cent of their constituents.'
