Show OUTLOOK BRIGHT 1 ATJIGNAL PEAK Property at Base of Mt. Belknap Looks Promising to Owners. DEER CREEK CANYON ALSO IS LOOKING WELL Treasurer A. A. Ball of the Annie Laurie Tenders Resignation. Special to Tho Tribune. IUCHFIELD, Sept. 1. Those Tvho aro guiding dovclopracnt work at the Signal Peak mine, near tho base of Mt. Belknap, are In high and hopeful spirits. To tap at depth flno surface outcropplngs, a tunnel was begun thrco years ago. Evor alnco reaching a dletanco of S00 feot tho flrat of theso ledges has been expected. "Wlion, however, something over 1000 feet had boon driven with nono of the big leads exposed, there began to ivrlso some doubt and fear as to whothor It was likely to got tho ledges at depth. Considerable onconragoment was derived de-rived recently from tho report of a surveyor sur-veyor that It was not probable that tlio veins would be tapped under at least 1200 feet, and the management became moro hopeful. Now tho report comes from tho sceno of operations that a change has come in tho formation, a change which is tho usual Indication of proximity of oro bodlos. Under this stimulating Influence efforts have been redoubled, and every day tho report Is expected here of a very Important 9trlke at this property. Anxiously Awaited. No less anxiously awaiting developments develop-ments arc tho directors of tho Richfield Mining and Milling company from their property in Deer Creek canyon. A very hard formation has been encountered, en-countered, which Is believed to be tho capping of tho main vein which the company com-pany is after, a vein which. In the old Dutler-Beck property, was In its day a -wonderfully rich streak, and for which tho operators felt Justified in erecting a mill. Tho vein disappeared at a "slip," and was nover rccovored. -The Richfield Mining and Milling company com-pany has been seeking to recover this lead behind tho fault, and every indication now is that it Is about to bo successful. Tho company has also boon prosecuting work In another place lower down, and has reached a vein eight feet In width carrying values of over 520 por ton. L. H. Outzen has Just returned from examination of a new discovery on the Outzen group of claims. It has not been developed enough yet to know much about it, except that It appears to be very rich right at tho grass roots and is about twelve feet wide. It is along the same big vein which was explored ex-plored last season on the property, and which gave high values. Another Good Showing. Under tho direction of James Long active ac-tive operations have been resumed on the properties of the Consolidated Gold Development De-velopment company, among which Is the famous Mammoth. But a short distance from the mouth of a tunnel near tho cabins a vein Is being followed which pans freely across Its entire face. Mr. Long's efforts for the next year will be devoted to "proving up" the property for a big working tunnel, which will be started to tap tho lodes at groat depth. Four hundred feet will be added to the Holland tunnel under a present contract. In this distance It Is expected to strike a lead In tho Deer Park ground. This, Is the beginning of a systematic development develop-ment of a big group of properties held by tho KImborly Mining company, with W. F. Snyder at the head, and embracing em-bracing some of tho choicest territory of tho Gold Mountain section. A. A. Ball, tho well-known treasurer of the Annie Laurie company, has tendered tend-ered his resignation, to tako effect tomorrow. Mr. Ball has been a very popular official with everybody In the camp. |
