Show IMPORTS INCREASING Port of Salt Iake Is Receiving Heavy Consignments. Imports, according to J. J. Grccno-wald, Grccno-wald, surveyor of the port of Salt Lake, nro increasing in number to tho extent that by the close' of tho fiscal year, July 1, thoy will bo double what they wero the year previous. On Wedpesday tho Walker Bros. Dry Goods company rocelved the largest sln-from sln-from Parln that has ever been recolved from Paris tha thas ever been received at this port. A largo shipment was also received on tho same day by the J. H. Leyson company. com-pany. Dealers In imported goods, Mr. Groene-wald Groene-wald 3Uttes, aro beginning to realize tho advantage of having their goods brought from abroad to Salt Lake direct, which accounts for the Increase of that kind of business. Surveyor Grcencwald also states that warehouse room Is now required to make a still further Increase of receipts at this port. This need may bo supplied by the railroads and Its advantages would be that dealers could buy In bulk, getting get-ting tho advantages on that account of cheaper goods, but that they could tako out the goods In small lots as needed and pay the duty as tho .good wero released. |
