Show HUNT ENDS TWO LIVES. Boy Found Senseless in "Woods Across Body of His Father. RICHMOND, Va., Dec. 11. After hours of searching the body of Jefferson Jeffer-son Rose was found on a lonely wooded hill near Millard. Dickinson county, where he lived. His son, 7 years old, senseless from cold, lay across his father's body. The boy died In three hours-. The deaths are the result of a raccoon rac-coon hunt, a pastime of which Rose was extremely fond. He had, begun to train his son in methods of pursuing and capturing those elusive denizens of the woods. Accompanied by his son and his dog, and bearing an ax, Rose started out for a hunt and was seen no more alive. Circumstances Indicate that the dog got on the trail of a raccoon and pursued pur-sued the animal so closely that he took to a tree. As usual with raccoon hunters. hunt-ers. Rose laid the ax to the root of the tree In order to fell It and capture the animal. A dead limb fell, striking him on the head and breaking his skull. Evidently the child crouched by his side, but soon yielded to the extreme cold and fell senseless. |
