On Thursday morning wo had the word from Boston that this company Is negotiating nego-tiating fifty million dollars of bonds In that city, ' for construction purposes; which would allow fifty thousand dollars dol-lars a milo for a thousand miles of road. A number of auxiliary brarich roads In California havo been acquired by this company; It Is doing active work at Beckwith Pass through the Sierras; Its line is practically established throughout: through-out: Its construction contract Is supposed sup-posed to have been let, and a party of engineers, with the contractor. Is about to make a trip over the wholo line of the survey. It is news that is both important im-portant and hightly grntlfylng. On tha Salt Lake route, tho work of completing tho rail connection between this city and Los Angeles 13 being pushed with energy. The distance now separating the rails is but about four miles, but the cut between is deep, and it is not probable that it will bo completed com-pleted beforo about the end of tho month. Soon after that, tho Initial through train may be expected. A substantial Bnowstorm was expected expect-ed and predicted during: the week, but a mere flurry of snow fell, not enough to be of any real service. But there Is time yet for snowfalls that will be amplo to meet tho irrigation needs of the coming; season. In the meantime, all forms of business busi-ness and trade are on an excellent footing; foot-ing; money Is plenty throughout the State: prices of all forms of produce are abovo the average, and it is found that it pays to raise things. Utah is much lacking yet, however; when it is known that we import grain, meats, poultry, eggs, butter, etc., In largo quantities from the feist. It will be seen that the farmers of this State have yet great opportunities for revenue, that are practically untouched. The outlook Is excellent so far as the market for all produce is concerned. The mines continue their magnificent output of half a million dollars a week, and the smelters continue their enterprising enter-prising programmo of offering every facility, by enlargements and improvements, improve-ments, for the handling of the ores offered. of-fered. If the bank clearances are any indication (and they ought to bo the best), tho financial transactions aro at high mark, the bank clearances of the week showing an Increase In-crease of 41 per cent over those of the corresponding week last year. Trade is brisk and collections are good. Indications Indi-cations are that tho very active building build-ing operations of last year will bo continued con-tinued this year also.
