Show Power Plant Is Swept Away Highland Company on the Boiso River Loses Property Valued at SI 50,000. Special to The Tribune. BOISE, Ida., May 23. Tho plant of the Highland Power company on the Eolse river, twenty miles above this city, was swept away yesterday at noon. The loss Is about $160,000. The river had been dammed with a crib dam, and the power-house stood under the river bank sixty feet below the dam. The apron on the dam was damaged soon after high water began, and a great hole was scoured out by the side of the plant and running run-ning back to the dam. This hole had been partially filled with rock, but the scouring process finally carried the hole back under the dam until a connection was made with the upper side. Then the river came through with a rush and washed the works away. This plant was used for pumping water for placer mining, and was to be converted Into an electric plant when the placer ground had been exhausted. The home ofTlce of the company Js In New Hampshire. |
