Show President on Way to Proton, Mass. Railroad Men. at Trenton Cheer the Chief Magistrate as He Passes Through Yards. TRENTON, N. J., May 23. President Presi-dent Roosevelt passed through here tonight on his way to Gro-ton, Gro-ton, Mass,, where his son, Theodore, Theo-dore, Is attending school. The President Presi-dent came ns far as this city on a special spe-cial car, which was made part of a regular reg-ular Pennsylvania and New York, New Haven & Hartford express. In order to avoid any possible trouble or complication com-plication resulting from the strike on the New York, New Haven & Hartford, Hart-ford, the President's car was cut out here and switched to the Belvlderc division di-vision of the Pennsylvania and run thence as a special train over the Poughkeopsie Bridge route. The President's Presi-dent's stay In this city was brief and only a score of railroad men knew of the arrangement. Secret service men guarded the car while in the yards. When the train had been made up and the signal given to start, the railroaders railroad-ers cheered, and the President, who had come out on the observation platform, plat-form, -waved his had to them as tho special moved away. |
